MAST Survivors Network is now Release The Records Foundation

The name has changed, but the mission remains focused on records, reporting, transparency, and accountability for military sexual assault and harassment survivors.

MAST Survivors Network has changed its name to Release The Records Foundation.

The new name reflects the work at the center of the foundation's mission: helping military sexual assault and harassment survivors seek the investigation records that document what happened in their cases.

Release The Records uses the Freedom of Information Act to seek military sexual assault and harassment investigation records that have been withheld from survivors and the public. With pro bono legal counsel, the foundation pursues broad records requests and, when necessary, fights the government in federal court to compel release.

When records are released, the goal is to return them to the survivors whose lives and cases they document. Over time, those records can also build a public account of how military institutions investigate sexual assault and harassment, who is protected, and how decisions are made behind closed doors.

The prior MAST Survivors Network Substack archive remains part of this publication history. Posts originally published there are being preserved with their original publication dates and links back to Substack for provenance.

For survivors seeking records or help understanding whether and how to report, Release The Records Foundation is now the place to start.
